What do we mean by Christmas?
So many folks it seems
See only toys and tinsel,
Perhaps some happy dreams.
Perhaps a cheerful feeling
That comes but once a year;
A season to be grateful,
A time to spread good cheer.
But friends, let us remember
It was that happy morn
When Jesus Christ the Savior
In Bethlehem was born.
We must keep Christ in Christmas.
The tidings of His birth
Must fill each nook and corner
Of this old sinful earth.
Christ is the heart of Christmas.
Our gifts will pass away,
The snow will lose its beauty,
The white will turn to grey.
And quickly turn to brown.
The leaves will dry and wither
And fall down to the ground.
The embers will burn low.
We need the Christ of Christmas
To fill the afterglow.
We need a living Savior.
We need His grace and love.
We need a revelation
Of God's great heart above.
We need someone to hear us.
We need someone to save.
We need a living Jesus
Who rose up from the grave.
We need someone to help us,
Someone with strength and power
To heal our hurts and heartaches,
To soothe our troubled brow.
We need a song to sing.
Let's keep our Christ in Christmas
And honor Him as king.
