My Dad is teaching on the names of God on Wednesday evenings. This month we changed up for the sake of Easter, but last week we learned about Jehovah Shalom. The Lord of Peace.
Jesus can be many things to you. He can be your best Friend, because He is the comforter, and because He understands every temptation and pain, every joy and delight of your heart. He can be your Lover because He delights in you, calls you beautiful and loves to be with you and to whisper promises to you. He can be your King because He gives ordinances and has laws to follow, and deserves your loyalty and worship.
But as Lord of Peace, what part would He play in your life? What effect does He have on your life as the Lord of Peace? Peace is a state of security and order, so it's a condition of your heart more than an attitude or feeling. To let Jesus be the Lord of Peace is to be secure in His promises and confident that you are where He wants you to be. You can't hardly have a sense of order when you're out of place, can you? And can you be truly secure if you're outside of His promised protection?
Security and order come from the Lord of Peace. Let Him guide your life so that you can know Him as the Jehovah Shalom.
