What is your passion?

My friend, what is your passion in life? The word “passion” basically means to have very strong feelings/ emotions for someone or something. To act passionately about something means to display adamantly the love or hatred that you may feel for a certain object. Your passion in life reveals much about who you are and what is most important to you.
In girlhood there is such a huge variety of things to become passionate about. Perhaps one girl’s passion is reading, while her friend’s main objective in life is music. Many young ladies consider the fashion world the most important thing in life. The list could go on and on indefinitely. It’s perfectly okay to have many things that you strongly enjoy and are fascinated in. However, the thing that is ultimately the most important to you, the object that you are very most passionate about in life, should be the Lord Jesus Christ!
As Christian young ladies we should literally be captivated with our Lord. Our sole desire for our existence should be to honor and glorify our King.
Yet, true as this concept may be, many times- if we’re to be completely honest with ourselves- we must confess that Christ is often not the sole passion in our life. Oh, we may say that He is; but I wonder, do our actions, lifestyles, and even our thought life corroborate what we say? When you’re passionate about something, that ONE thing will fill your entire life. Sure, other things may come into the picture occasionally that briefly demand your attention; but as soon as is possible, we dash back to the One thing that ultimately owns our affections. Can you honestly and whole heartedly say that the One whom owns your desires and affections is the Lord Jesus Christ?
How you behave in everyday life reveals what your passion is in life. Take this simple test, and see where your heart’s desire really lies.

Worship: When (or if) you have your devotions, is your worship directed toward you King? Or do you spend the entire time thinking about everything you need to do when you get through this boring necessity?

Clothes:
Can people who look at you know instantly from how you dress that you are a Christian? Do they see that Jesus is the most important thing in your life, or are they immediately bombarded with messages of the world?

Words:
What comes to peoples’ minds when they hear you talk? Does your speech glorify the Lord and edify others? Or do you just talk nonsense and downgrade others?

Hobbies:
What you spend your free time on really proves what you’re most attached to! Do you enjoy the things of God and His people, or do you waste your time on things will count as worthless in eternity?

Places you frequent :
Where do you visit when you have the choice? Are they places you wouldn’t be ashamed to enter with Jesus beside you?

Attitude:
Does your countenance shout to the world that your King is risen and reigns? Or do non- Christians appear more joyful than you as a saved person does?

Books/music:
Your books and music ( probably like few other things) prove to us what your passion is in life. Are you filling your mind and life with things that honor God and improve your mind? How would God rate your reading material and music selections?

These are tough questions- I cringed on a couple of them- but they’re some that we all have to ask ourselves at some point in our lives. If you realize that up to this point you really haven’t made Jesus alone the passion of your life, today is the day to make Him that! Just because you may have failed in this in the past, that doesn’t mean you have to continue failing in the future. We have such a wonderful, merciful God who not only will forgive you, but also give you the needed the strength to make whatever change is necessary in your life to make Him priority. Come before our Savior and ask Him to become the passion of your life. The One that matters more than anything else in this universe. There’s a song that has become my life’s prayer, it’s called “A Passion for Thee”. Let me encourage you to make it your prayer too.

A Passion for thee
Set my heart, O dear father, on thee and thee only,
Give me a thirst for thy presence divine.
Lord, keep my focus on loving thee wholly,
Purge me from earth: turn my heart after thine.

Father, fill with thy spirit, and fit me for service,
Let love for Christ every motive inspire;
Teach me to follow in selfless submission,
Be thou my joy and my soul’s one desire.

* A passion for thee: O Lord,
Set a fire in my soul, and thirst for my God.
Hear thou my prayer, Lord, thy power import-
Not just to serve, but to love thee with all of my heart.
