What To Pray?

Ever wonder what to pray about? You know God is your Friend…that He will always be there for you. But sometimes do you feel that you have nothing to say to Him?

When I was in Sunday school over twelve years ago, I learned about four different ways in which we all need to pray to God. It’s called ACTS. Yep, like the book of the Bible Acts…but it’s different. :)

Adoration~ God is our Creator, our Helper, our Protector, our Friend. He LOVES us in ways we cannot possibly comprehend. He has loved us way more than we deserve. We are to love Him as well. He deserves all the love we can give Him. So TELL Him how much you love and adore Him. Praise Him! When I was in Sunday school, we would think of all the different names God has and write them on the blackboard. Alpha Omega, Morning Star, Jehovah, Elohim, Yahweh, and many more.

Confession~ We all know that no one is perfect. We all do things that displease our Lord. So confess your sins to the One who has the power to forgive all. Confession is something that is done not just once, but often.

Thanksgiving~ God has done for us more than we deserve. While we sinners deserve to be completely separated from the Holy One, He wants us to be with Him. This in itself is an amazing privilege. God provides for our needs. He takes care of us. So take the time to really thank Him for what He has done in your life…and for what He will do.

Supplication~ There is nothing wrong with asking God for something you want. He wants us to ask Him for things. He may so yes, no, or wait…but there is nothing wrong with asking.

So the next time you pray, think about ACTS. Give God your Adoration, Confess your sins, give Thanks, and pray in Supplication (come to Him with your needs).
